Creation Baumann, over 130 years of creating textile solutions for interiors
Founded in 1886 in the heart of Switzerland, Création Baumann is an independent family-run business represented worldwide in over 40 countries.
The long standing passion for fabrics lies in the development; each year the in-house creative team led by designers Sibylle Aeberhard and Elianne Ernst create a new, contemporary and trend-inspired collection of textiles set out to contribute to the improvement of well-being in your home and public spaces. Innovation, refinement and a more than a century of expertise are the values behind a product range of over 6,000 textiles.

Dyeing in the Swiss Production Centre
From processing the yarn to the completed fabric: at Création Baumann, each production step takes place at a special location. They operate a winding room, doubling mill, dyeing mill, weaving mill, printing press, and a finishing room—giving them the entire repertoire for a textile production that is as inspired as it is innovative.

Sustainability is one of the pillars of the Swiss textile manufacturer, taking responsibility for their own use of natural resources. Pioneers in the industry, in 1973 a neutralization system was built and still complies with statutory wastewater specifications to this day. The system requires no further chemical processes and they completely refrain from using PVC yarns.

I have always had a passion for creativity and the arts, after studying and working in fashion for 10 years I decided to make a change and move into the world of interiors and discovered Creation Baumann. I started as part time Showroom Assistant 3 years ago and I grew up within the company supporting now the new Textile Consultants team.
What do you enjoy the most of working for Creation Baumann?
I love the variety of different projects and people I get to work with, from small private residences to luxury hotels, restaurants and high end stores.
How does Creation Baumann UK make the difference?
Our team always goes the extra mile for our clients offering bespoke solutions to their interior design projects. We are available for appointments in our showroom to go through the collection or we can come to you if required. As we design, manufacture and distribute our own fabrics we minimise the lead-time and additional costs.
What type of clients visit your showroom?
Our showroom attracts a mix of interiors designers, architects and residential clients. As the senior textile consultant I can guide you through our collection to hand pick and source the best fabric solutions for your project. We are also happy to offer our personal advice and recommendation for curtain/blind making and fitting when choosing the fabrics. It is amazing to work with experts like Sue Whimster that can offer our clients the best service.

Which is your favourite fabric?
I love our Glare & Heat collection. It is an innovative creation that follows the architectural trend of modern architecture with spacious glass surfaces. These fabrics filter the light, UV and heat that come into your home and contribute to improving the indoor climate. It was a real hit when we presented the collection Clerkenwell Design Week 2017.
Which are your most popular fabrics?
Our most popular fabrics are some of our most simple. We have a stunning collection of sheer fabrics including SINFONIA CS V and SONOR II. These are incredible linen-like weaves in double widths, a huge colour range and they drape beautifully. The benefit of a using our non-natural textiles is there is no creasing, they have a strong colour-fastness, they are inherently flame-retardant and they are more cost effective.
How would you describe your latest home collection Silk and Spices?
The “Silk & Spices” Collection brings a new elegance into the stylish home. Inspired by the launch of two new silks and a spicy colour palette the collection is confident, sophisticated and stylish. A magnificent extravaganza jacquard fabric called ARTEMISIA takes centre stage with a fascinating printing technique made before the weaving process that creates a three dimensional effect. It was the favourite of our visitors at Decorex International 2017.
