Back in 1989 Sue started out making curtains for friends and family at home and went on to form her company.
Over the years her company has gone from strength to strength. In 2012 she moved her workforce to a large industrial unit in South London. Sue works full time, not only managing the company on a daily basis but is also available for site meetings.
The vast majority of her curtains and soft furnishing are made in-house by her skilled seamstresses and are overseen by both herself and her dedicated team. Although a majority of Sue's work is in the UK, her services have been commissioned all over the world. These have included a multitude of projects for Interior Designers and Private clients. Projects have ranged from residential properties to show houses, country residencies to penthouses, and holiday homes to castles.
Sue has been lecturing at KLC Design School in Chelsea Harbour, London for the last 10 years. KLC Design School is one of the UK’s Leading Colleges for Interior Design. Sue lectures Degree and Diploma students in “Professional Curtain and Blind Making” and “Window Treatments”
As Sue’s ‘right hand’ Nicky is a vital member of Sue’s team. Along with running her own projects, Nicky is also involved with the day-to-day logistics of the company -from looking after the office diary and our team of fitters to making sure all orders are made on time and in the correct place ready for fitting.
Having spent over 30 years working in the fashion industry, Theresa decided to take a short career break and joined Sue Whimster Curtains Ltd as their Lead Estimator in February 2017. For the first year, Theresa predominantly generated all estimates for customers that made inquiries through our website, as well as assisting the project managers with quotes and occasional orders. During this period, Theresa began to form beneficial knowledge of curtains and soft furnishings and has since progressed to project manager. For a very long time, Theresa could not see herself escaping from the world of fashion and now finds learning about another industry very refreshing.
Project Manager & Consultant
Isabela is one of our Project Managers and Consultants here at SWC. She started with us in 2018 and is now training our Junior Estimators and Project Managers. Moving to London from Mumbai, her love for textiles and Interior Design has been ever-present in her work. She is happy to advise customers on fabrics and window treatments that would suit their requirements. Isabela is an expert on curtains, blinds, and upholstery. If you are having trouble with choosing fabric schemes, ring her up and she would be more than happy to come out and help you choose a scheme that works best for your home. Isabela is always quick to help with any of your queries.
Masooma is the Workroom Manager she is responsible to ensure our products are being made at the highest quality standards. She has an eye for detail and a wealth of experience in the process of manufacturing soft furnishings.
