As part of our service Sue or a member of her team will visit you in your home to discuss your requirements. It’s an important stage in our curtain making process as it means we can take detailed measurements of your windows and give expert advice on your ideas ahead of any orders being placed.
Do remember we also make pelmets and covered laths and it’s worth thinking about borders and trims at this stage too, as these can easily be added into the making process. Your home visit is your chance to get our experienced team’s professional guidance on your complete window treatment, right down to the perfect finishing touches.
How do I choose fabrics?
We have fabric accounts with all the major UK fabric suppliers (visit our Suppliers page for details) so offer a wonderful selection for you to choose from. Let us know what kind of fabrics interest you ahead of your home visit and Sue or one of the team can bring along suitable fabric books for you to look over.
If you’re in need of more inspiration, The Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, London is without doubt the best place to view the wide array of fabrics available. The extent and range of fabrics on display there is unparalleled with over 100 different fabric brands on display in beautiful showrooms. It’s quite simply the best place to go!
Can I get a quote before arranging a home visit?
Before we visit a lot of people like to have an idea of our making costs. If you are able to measure your window, and tell us whether you want lined or interlined curtains as well as what type of hanging system you had in mind, we can offer an initial quote. Email this through to us with your phone number and postcode and our in-house quoting team will cost your project and also work out how many meters of fabric will be required.
Remember – we will never make your order from your measurements and will always professionally re-measure your windows to ensure a perfect finish.
How do I arrange a home visit?
Once you have your initial quote and your guide-making price, do contact us for a home visit and we’ll come as soon as possible. We are fairly flexible with times and can usually visit within two weeks. The best way to make an appointment is to either call us on 0208 293 0737, email us on info@suewhimster.co.uk or use our contact form.
How long does it take for my curtains and blinds to be made?
All our curtains and blinds are made here on site in our workrooms in South East London. On average, it takes six weeks to eight weeks from receipt of fabric at our workroom to order completion. However, this may change at our busiest times. Please contact our team to advise you.
Do you offer a fitting service?
Once your order is complete, or nearly finished, we will contact you to arrange a date for our in-house fitting team to come and professionally hang your curtains.
