The Sue Whimster team is very proud to have recently collaborated with British fabric experts Altfield on its spring/summer 2015 window display.

Based in South West London’s design hub, Chelsea Harbour Design Centre, Altfield has become a trusted resource for many interior designers, not least for its second-to-none range of beautiful textiles.

Altfield’s offering is truly international with 15 high end lines from around the world complementing the company’s own in-house collections of wall coverings, fabric and faux leathers. The showroom team are always on hand to advise interior designers on fabrics and help realise ideas and décor schemes.

The new window display takes on a suitably summery tone with an inviting garden scene. A luxurious hammock is the hero piece scattered with an array of cushions in bright textiles made by the Sue Whimster team. All the fabrics featured are suitable for outdoors – ideal for ever-popular alfresco lounge areas (assuming the British summer allows!)

Sue also made a selection of dramatic fabric drops to showcase Altfield’s beautiful new fabric selection to full effect.

Pictured above, the drops included an indoor/outdoor fabric from Brentano called Majalis (the bold blue multicolour geometric pattern drop, which is also shown on the large cushion on the hammock in an alternative colourway). Channeling the Asiri women of Saudi Arabia whose vivid frescos wrap entire rooms in colourful geometric motifs. Majalis’seven spicy colourways express eclectic individuality in a 17-plus-inch vertical repeat of patterned stripes.

Also shown is Weitzner’s Akira fabric (large blue and cream medallion drop), which was drawn from a photograph taken on designer Lori Weitzner’s trip to Japan. This textured Sunbrella® upholstery is available in three two-toned colourways.

In contrast to the bolder looks above, a series of neutral panels and drops using interior textiles created a more calming corner to the display. Pollack’s Double Dutch fabric (the sheer curtain above) features a graceful arabesque, with paired curved lines interlacing to create a formal lattice motif. Against a sheer ground, the weft weaves alternate stripes of two colors of a heavy filament polyester yarn; as each color crosses this extra wide fabric, it floats on the face in small rectangles of clear, undiluted color to truly beautiful effect.
